Hi there! I’m Lee Lisle, a a recently graduated Ph.D from CS @ VT and a alumni member of the 3D Interaction Group directed by my advisor, Dr. Doug A. Bowman. I was also a member of the Center for Human-Computer Interaction (CHCI) at Virginia Tech.

My expertise is in designing, implementing, and evaluating interaction techniques in augmented and virtual reality, with a specialty in sensemaking and cognition research. I am interested in perception and cognition in virtual environments, information access methods in augmented reality, and perceptions and representations of self in virtual reality. I champion the importance of transdisciplinary work in human-computer interaction, as the future of AR is relevant to all domains and will be a part of daily life.

My most recent work is in conjunction with Dr. Chris North of the InfoVis Lab and Sanghani Center for AI and Data Analytics working on Immersive Space to Think (IST). IST is an immersive analytics approach for assisting cognition and sensemaking that provides users a place to organize their thoughts and extract additional meaning from complex datasets.

Currently, I am working as a postdoctoral associate with the Virginia Tech National Security Institute, studying how to leverage mixed reality for cybersecurity analysts. However, I am on the job market looking at both industry and academic positions!
